poll response: Communism is the inevitable peaceful and abundant future of humankind The Soviet Union was an oppressive, exploitative, class-divided society that pretended to be socialist or communist socialism exists (or existed) in has never existed Genuine socialism is the rule of society by the working class modern capitalist societies are ruled by the rich (ie: the wealthy class, the bourgeoisie) The FAQ I don't need to read no stinkin' FAQ | if everyone... and i mean everyone, worked together to create a communist society, and everyone had the same power and rights... nobody is better or worse off than the next person, we would probably all be happier, and i believe that adopting a pure communist system will be the only way to solve many of the worlds most controversial problems. the basic reason past 'communist' reigiems have failed... i.e. Russia 1917, and later the USSR under the rule of Stalin, is because they were under rule. the theories that Stalin, Lenin and Marx preached were/are not what is practised. the leaders that believe they can rule a communist state need to do some research, cos a communist state is not something that can be ruled if it is to work. in russias communist attempts it was obvious that people were either better or worse of than other people. If we adopted a pure communist system at least everyone would be in the same boat. however... who would we have then to lead us, keep civil law, etc. i believe in communism, and i suppose u could call me a communist for my belief in the theory of it all, but i still realise that pure communism will fail through lack of a leading body of people.finally, surely we should not put a 'scientific definition' on communism or any other system of living, not class things and so on, because if we cannot achieve a state of the real definition of a system, then the definition is invalid, and not true.
